Government Spending and a 14 year old
This morning my 14 year old daughter asked for her allowance. As I handed her the money I commented that everyone has their hand out and it seems that I am the only one left in the country that is paying. I shared with my daughter that the allowance was voluntary while the Obama so-called stimulus package (tax and spend package) was confiscatory. She looked at me and wanted to know what I meant by that. Here is what I told her:
That our family is considered rich and that we will not directly benefit from the stimulus package and that those who do benefit are benefiting at our expense. That we, (our family) is being made to pay money to the government so that they can give it to someone else. Obama and the democratic Congress are rewarding bad behavior, those who do not manage their affairs and money in a prudent manner. Confiscatory is like stealing, only when the government steals, (confiscates our money) they are not punished, but rather rewarded with more “votes” in the next election.
She said: “Dad, if this is really going to happen, what is the incentive for us trying to get ahead and better ourselves?” With that comment, I knew that every dollars spent on her private school education was worth it.
